Eastern C.N.A.S.F. Futurity Rules and Guidelines

Futurity Registration is open from Sept. 1st, 2011 to Oct. 15th, 2011
Early Registration: Sept. 1, 2011 to Sept. 30, 2011 - $85.00 per Alpaca and $25.00 per pen
All entries must be postmarked no later than September 30, 2011 or entries fees will be double.
- All CLAA Registered age eligible offspring of the 2011 Subscribed Studs are eligible for the Futurity.
Also, all age eligible progeny resulting from breedings purchased in the 2007, 2008 and 2009 Alpaca Canada Futurities, and 2010 Eastern CNASF Subscribed Studs even if the studs are not subscribed for 2011.
(This does not apply to stud owners who purchase their own herdsire's breeding in the auction.)

It is imperative that entries are CLAA registered. Alpacas will be checked upon arrival for colour, sex, microchip number and negative BVD test result, prior to being placed into their pen.
- Age eligibility::
a. Juveniles were born between Oct. 28, 2010 and April 29, 2011.
b. Yearlings were born between Oct. 29, 2009 and Oct. 28, 2010.
c. Intermediates were born between Oct. 29, 2008 and Oct. 28, 2009.
- Where possible, entries will be split into classes by colour, age and sex. Male and female classes will be combined in colour championship rounds. The colour splits will be:
White - only true whites
Light - includes beige and light fawn
Medium - includes medium and dark fawns and light browns
Dark - includes medium and dark browns
Black - includes bay black and black
Grey - includes grey, silver greys, rose greys and roans
Multi - alpacas with 2 or more distinct colours in the blanket area (not including greys)
Please include a labeled fibre sample from each coloured alpaca entered (not required for white animals) and a picture of each animal entered.
- No minimum class size and the maximum class size will be 13 animals. Ribbons will be awarded to 6th place.
- Judging will be 60% fibre and 40% conformation using a two-judge consensus system. First and second place alpacas will return for the Colour Championship classes.
- A minimum of 4 entries is required in a colour group to award a Colour Champion
- The judges will choose the Supreme Champion Huacaya from all colour champion huacayas. Sires Cup is awarded to the Sire of the Supreme Champion Huacaya. Best of Show Suri will be selected from all first place suris. A minimum of 4 entries is required to award a Best of Show Suri.
- The Show Committee reserves the right to:
a. place entries in the appropriate colour class;
b. adjust the classes based on the number of entries; and
c. adjust colour class boundaries.
Verbal directions from the Show Committee take precedence over the show program.
- Prize money will be paid to one more than half the class participants, i.e. if 10 animals in a class, payment will be made up to 6 animals. The amount of prize money is based on subscribed stud auction participation.
- All subscribed sire owners will receive 10% of the purse for animals placing first in their respective classes (minimum of 4 animals in class). Sires of Colour Champions, Supreme Champion Huacaya and Best of Show Suri are also included.
- There will be a short spectator hands-on session if time allows after each class.
- Alpacas are required to be on the Orangeville Fairgrounds site by Friday, October 28th, no later than 5 o'clock p.m. and remain until the Supreme Champion is announced and the Select Sale is completed.
- All alpacas must be removed from the site and clean-up must be completed by 1:00pm, Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011.
- Only animals registered for the Select Sale and Futurity will be allowed on the premises. Arrangements must be made at another facility for non-participating animals. No animals can be sold off the back of trailers during the Futurity weekend. Single entries from a farm may be accompanied by a companion animal by special arrangement with the Registrar. All alpacas entering the Fairgrounds must have proof of negative BVD test, permanent identification [microchip, tattoo or ear tag], be in good health.
